Christmas Fruit Mince

Make this Christmas Fruit Mince at least 24 hours ahead of when it is needed. It will keep for months in a jar in the fridge and improves with age. It can be used in all kinds of ways, including in a Festive Fruit Mince Tart and Festive Gubana.

Can the Christmas Fruit Mince be doubled easily. I was wondering about the apples. Sue

Hi Julie, You can read more about Christmas Mince here on the blog https://www.annabel-langbein.com/annabel/blog/sweet-and-spicy-christmas-mince/ I prefer a lower-fat, lighter mince hence have not included suet, but if you search traditional christmas mince there are many recipes that do include suet and apples. Happy christmas!

Hi Guyton, you can use orange juice in replacement of the brandy. You could also boil off the alcohol by bringing the brandy to the boil and simmering for a few minutes. Happy christmas!

Hi Faye - it will still be fine to use. The nuts might just be a little soft! Best not to keep it for too many months as nuts do go rancid. Happy christmas!

I didn't read the method properly and put the nuts in too, it's been in the fridge for a couple of weeks :-(
