Hi Annabel - we've noticed lately that the potatoes we've been buying from the supermarket have a strange 'sweet' taste to them, and an odd texture. I've tried a few different ones (ie roasting or mashing varieties), and they've all been a bit odd, and tonight they were inedible. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed, maybe they are stored in fridges or is it our climate at the moment. It's happened quite a lot lately, enough to make me ask the question! Thanks Annabel.
Hi, That certainly is strange. Potatoes do change throughout the year and are obviously better in season. Try to always buy potatoes that have dirt on them as they have not been washed in a chemical solution. Perhaps also try to buy them from a vegetable grocer or farmers market. Hope the potatoes taste better soon!
