I love to eat what the locals eat when I travel. I'm planning a trip to Croatia in October. What are the must try dishes, drinks, fruits, veges, ingredients, spices that are special or unique to Croatia. Any recommendations for eateries or restaurants?

I spent 3 weeks in Croatia and found nothing food-wise stood out that was unique to them - other than their love of lamb on a spit. Their menus were a mix of italian (pasta and pizza), wiener schnitzel, and greek salads. Good fish was very hard to find (as tends to be imported). We sailed for a week and bought fresh salad material, yummy breads and cheeses from the markets and fruit so tended to cook onboard. I loved Croatia though and would happily return.

hallo, joss hong... hier is one video click on you tube antony bourdain croatia. I am from croatia and we have a great food. fish is not importet, in restaurant along the coast. in istria you can find restaurant with origin croatian couisine. try it and you won t be disapointed....
