I heart Amsterdam

Posted on August 30, 2012 by Annabel Langbein

This cute video clip has just arrived from my Dutch publishers Unieboek and reminded me of why the Netherlands would have to be one of my favourite countries on earth. As you can see from the video, my recent trip there was so much fun.

I started my book launch tour for the Dutch version of The Free Range Cook in Amsterdam, meeting up with the lovely local media for interviews. I had the opportunity to join local celebrity chef Rudolph Van Veen for his TV show Rudolph’s Bakery on the 24 Kitchen channel, and went to the wonderful restaurant Deeg in Utrecht for a fabulous dinner of recipes from the book, including Parmesan and Basil Dimples, Roasted Beet and Rocket Salad, chermoula chicken skewers and Potato Gratin with Gruyere and Garlic. It was such fun arriving local-style by bicycle – although I’m not sure that high heels and cycling are a match made in heaven...

I also demonstrated some recipes from the book at an amazing bookshop called De Sperwer, which provided me with another opportunity to meet new people, cook and talk food – all my favourite activities! If you'd like to make the Chocolate and Cranberry Slice you can see in the video, you'll find the recipe here.

Here are a few photos from my trip. Enjoy!
