Watch out Nigella, Here Comes Bella

It’s official, Annabel Langbein ranks on the world stage with Nigella Lawson and Delia Smith. The NZ food writer has just been nominated for the 2007 Le Cordon Bleu World Food Media Awards. She’s alongside four other celebrity chefs in having been selected from 600 international entries.

Annabel has been nominated in two categories; for Best Soft Cover Recipe Book for “Assemble, Sensational Food Made Simple" and for Best Website with www.annabel-langbein.com. Gold prizes are to be awarded in Adelaide, Australia on 20 October.

“This is real global recognition for many yards of hard work" said Annabel, who’s thrilled with the news. “I’m proud to say that I’ve done this off my own bat, having got out there in true kiwi spirit and backed myself, publishing my own work from the very early days. I’ll await the result with interest."

“It’s great to represent NZ on the world stage in food writing, and to be seen to lead the way in new technology with the website. I’m constantly innovating, and my next move will be to develop even more new media."

The launch of her latest book Eat Fresh – Cooking Through the Seasons this month sees Annabel yet again keeping ahead of the trends. Annabel’s latest offering takes the reader from the vegetable patch to the plate, endorsing making healthy choices and eating seasonal food throughout the year. Eat Fresh links the reader to ten two minute videos online with lessons for success in the kitchen and tips from the garden on growing, handling and nutrition.

And there are more accolades for Annabel. Her Assemble book has also been selected as a finalist for Best Recipe Book of the Year at the New Zealand Guild of Foodwriters Culinary Quills Awards. These bi-annual prizes will be awarded in Wellington on 28 September.
