Eat Fresh

Call for "An End to Eating Barcodes" from Acclaimed Food Writer.

Renowned cook, food writer and publisher Annabel Langbein literally "puts the gumboot" into take out and ready meals with the launch of her latest book Eat Fresh - cooking through the seasons.

A director of the Sustainability Council for the last five years, and a keen organic gardener, Annabel's latest offering takes the reader from the vegetable patch to the plate, endorsing making healthy choices and eating seasonal food throughout the year.

Annabel laments the state of affairs which has disassociated people from food production. "More than half of the world's population now lives in cities, without access to the natural cycles of nature. " Annabel says. "In my family, we try not to eat barcodes. It's easy to become reliant on packaged, processed foods, especially when life is busy. You feel healthier with fresh, locally grown food on the plate."

While she supports the time honoured practice of growing your own vegetables, Annabel is anything but traditional in responding to people's cooking needs. She remains innovative and technology savvy. The Eat Fresh book links the reader to ten two minute videos online with lessons for success in the kitchen and tips from the garden on growing, handling and nutrition.

Eat Fresh is a vibrant book, so stuffed with ideas and crisp colour photos that people will want to devour it with their eyes. Annabel draws on her own garden as a source of cooking inspiration and working with a palette of seasonal flavours, produces delicious dishes from what's available for harvest.

Just as with her other titles, through Eat Fresh Annabel provides support and encouragement to help people be successful. She stresses that readers don't have to be a purist or even have a garden to achieve with this book. "Eat Fresh will educate you about what to eat and when. Be informed and you can live well.
