Pantry Moth Traps
The trap that attracts and catches moths without poisonous chemicals

Do moths besiege your pantry? In my place the cupboards turn into a kind of moth city. Apart from being embarrassing ("doesn't she ever clean out her pantry?") the moths can destroy large amounts of food. These insects somehow manage to lay their eggs in every packet of flour, rice, grain, dried nut or fruit.

Some time ago I made the wonderful discovery of Pantry Moth Traps - just pop them in your pantry and those pesky moths are history. If, like me, you don't like the idea of spraying chemicals into your food cupboards, you will be pleased to learn about these clever little traps.

The pheromone traps (pheromones are the sex scent that attract a species to each other) are non-toxic and look like little cardboard tents. They are designed to attract the male moths that infest foods. The moths fly in, thinking they are about to get lucky, pop down their feet and - whammo! - are stuck there. A trap starts working immediately - after a day or two there may be 3 or 4 moths, in a couple of weeks the thing is jam-packed.

Normally, one trap is sufficient for an average-size kitchen and will last approximately 3 months. The moths are caught before they mate, so you will find there will be very few, if any, breeding stock.
