About Annabel

Your Feedback

My cooking days began when I was about 10 when I had the job of helping Mum bring up five kids by herself by cooking the Saturday dinner, which was either a beef stew of roast mutton, the choices being dictated by the generosity of the butcher I worked for after school. Four years Merchant Navy and 25 RNZAF gave me little time for cooking except while out on exercise when whatever was produced was OK as it was all we had.

When I tried to retire six years ago I was asked back part time, so we got Sky and "The Naked Chef" made cooking look so easy I decided to try it as "The Boss" had earned her hobby time, (golf sometimes 4 times a week) by raising four kids by herself most of the time as I was away on exercise or overseas training for months at a time. First thing I bought was a real chef's knife; copied Jamie's recipes and videotaped the “Ready Steady Cook” team for ideas.

It's been a lot of fun but I must admit to prefer cooking up electronics projects. Annabel's book is a godsend for dummies like me as all the instructions are there so it is difficult to screw up and her time on April's show is a real hoot as she makes such fun of glitches.

Thanks again and please pass my congratulations to Annabel on a great publication.

Regards,

George

Hi Annabel

I wanted to drop you a quick note to say thank you so much for your wonderful cookbooks.

I was shopping one day in Living and Giving and happened to mention to the sales woman that I wasn’t much of a cook. She thought I might find a book called The Best of Annabel Langbein helpful (apparently it had helped her daughter no end). I purchased the book thinking I need all the help I can get! The book has transformed this inadequate new housewife into a kitchen goddess! With a happy family to boot. I especially love all the extra tips, which is exactly what an inexperienced cook needs. After many successes I then went on to purchase Assemble, which I have also enjoyed.

Many thanks again from me and my family!

For the last three and a half years I have managed a cafe, and when I left I was presented with your book Eat Fresh - Cooking Through the Seasons.

I love it and have used it so much – some of the recipes over and over again. It is simple and easy to understand and great tasting food – which our whole family love. (We have three teenagers/young adults.) The food always turns out just like your pictures (which are gorgeous) and I really enjoy making new things out of it.

The Roast Capsicum Sauce is so lovely I make it often - great not only with what [you] suggest but lovely on crackers, bread, etc., etc.

Thank you so much for your creativity, inspiration and great recipes that bring healthy eating to our tables, and enjoyment in the kitchen.

Kindest regards,

Just a bit of feedback on the videos on your website – they make it so easy and interesting. No more looking at recipes and thinking, “mmmm... I wonder what that’s supposed to look like, or what does that mean, or how do you do that??” Just watch the video then go and do it.

Fantastic, so thanks very much for making it a bit easier.

Cheers,

Sue
